Fishing & Angling in Cumbria

With its multitude of lakes, rivers and tarns, and the Solway Coast just outside the national park, the Lake District is the ideal place for fishing, with beautiful scenery to add to the pleasure. A number of different types of fish can be caught including salmon, char, pike and halibut.

Numerous hotels and guest houses offer special packages for the angler staying in the area. Most lakes and tarns owned by the national Trust can be fished provided permits are obtained. For those wishing to improve their skills, fishing courses are available.
